ONE STEP AT A TIME! STOP HURRYING GOD!

One of the most challenging moments in life is waiting for the will/plan of God to unfold and manifest fully in our lives. This could be a difficult time for you coupled with temptations and personal impulses of expecting solutions in a hurry. But to experience the manifestation of God’s plan, you need to take a step at a time in your Faith journey with the Lord, that is the only guarantee!
If you’re still in doubt read slowly: (1Kings 17:1-6)

“Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, ‘As the Lord lives, the God of Israel whom I serve, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years except at my order.’  The word of the Lord came to him, ‘Go away from here, go eastwards, and hide yourself in the Brook Cherith which lies east of Jordan. You can drink from the stream, and I have ordered the ravens to bring you food there.’ He did as the Lord had said; he went and stayed in the wadi Cherith which lies east of Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he quenched his thirst at the stream.”
POINTS FOR REFLECTION
1. The drought announced by Elijah was a great threat to the reign of king Ahab and thus posed danger to the life of Elijah as well, therefore God tells him to flee for safety at the Brook Cherith.
2. Even though God knew how everything will end, He led Elijah one step at a time. He did not tell him to go to Cherith until he first delivered the message to Ahab. He did not tell him to go to Zarephath until the brook dried up at Cherith. (1kgs.17:7-9).
3. Whatever you are passing through now is part of the steps you MUST make in Faith; a lesson you MUST learn with God leading you! In the case of Elijah, God uses those moments to teach him HIDDEN LIFE after the popularity and fame his ministry as prophet created. There’s something God wants to teach you be open to learn.
4. The manifestation of your blessing and favors does not depend on “your connections with men” -the ‘people’ you know, rather it depends on your “connection with God”. Elijah was taught this when God cuts him off from the crowd. In fact the place God recommended for his safety- Cherith in Hebrew means “to cut off or cut away.” We must “cut off” from the crowd to connect with God in prayers.
5. Depending on God means accepting WHATSOEVER the Lord presents to you! This may be difficult but for your good, YOU MUST ACCEPT! Elijah had to depend on a Raven (an unclean bird in Jewish custom) to bring him food. He had to abandon his “religious customs and tradition”, what we may call preconceived knowledge because that’s the Lord’s Choice and Will! Are you still tied up in your “hallowed” choices, imaginations and preconceived knowledge?
