Have you been praying and waiting for situations to change around you? Child of God, this could be difficult and challenging. Genesis 49:2,8-10
Jacob called his sons and said:
‘Gather round, sons of Jacob, and listen;
listen to Israel your father. Judah, your brothers shall praise you: you grip your enemies by the neck, your father’s sons shall do you homage, Judah is a lion cub, you climb back, my son, from your kill; like a lion he crouches and lies down, or a lioness: who dare rouse him? The SCEPTER shall not pass from Judah, nor the MACE from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs, to whom the peoples shall render obedience.’
POINTS FOR REFLECTION
1. The word of God you just read is a collection of prophetic utterances of Jacob over his sons at a crucial moment of his life when he was confronted by bodily weakness and death. He spoke with his last strength, summoning his sons, speaking to their spirit-man, and activated their destinies.
2. His prophetic utterances over Judah and his descendants clearly depict their future destiny as royals, and from this tribe shall come the messianic King whose reign shall be everlasting. Jacob’s utterances today are ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ- son of David (Matt.1:1) whom in our weariness, expect in the advent season. Since every long expectation is usually attended with weariness and anxiety, we combat this by rousing ourselves and our desires, and activate our spirit-man so as to stay focused on the target!
3. How do you speak to and activate your spirit-man, you ask me? You do so with the Word of God and with prayerful declarations addressed to yourself: calling your name and addressing yourself like a second person, as if you are addressing someone; and with the target in mind, you pray. Use this method as well to activate the destinies of your children and spouses; to activate favour and success in difficult moments, healing in times of sickness; and abundance in moments of lack.
Begin this way: (mention your name and say) you are a favoured child and destined for greatness! Your name means (mention the meaning of your name) and God has chosen you for this purpose. Nothing shall change the plan of God for you. For the word of God says in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“ I stand on this word now and begin to activate the plan of God in my life today and the future; and I declare: no evil machinations can stop me or frustrate me from my goal for the Word of God says in Isaiah 40:31: I shall run and not grow weary, I walk and never grow tired and I will soar high like the Eagle because those hope in the Lord will have their strength renewed. And so I render useless every evil manipulations, thoughts, feelings, emotion and banish every fear from my life for the Word of God says in Psalm 20:8 that all evil forces around me shall collapse and be crushed but I shall rise I stand firm because I trust in the Lord. May this request I ask in prayer (mention it) happen in my life according to your divine Word, as it happened in the life of Mary (Lk. 1:38) in the name of Jesus. AMEN.
I Pray for you that believeth: May the Word of God on your lips be as powerful as a two-edged sword in your hands to cut through and destroy every form of evil around you, and be a source of protection for you in times of distress. Amen.
