Jesus raises Jairus Daughter
Some years ago I met a lady who came back to life after 2 days of death. “During my National Service year after graduation from the University, I was declared dead in a hospital far away from home, after a brief illness and my family was contacted to come for my corpse while my remains was prepared for burial”, she said. Because of the distance travelling by road, her family couldn’t arrive on the same day they received the bad news but on the second day. Few hours to their arrival her corpse began to move and she sneezed, that alerted the nurses and doctor who, though marvelled, began to resuscitate her again. And her family who came prepared to take their dead daughter were welcomed with good news! In all this, she said, while I was sick and dying I kept calling on Jesus, that was the last I remembered that was also the prayers on my lips as I gained consciousness.
I don’t know whether your story is worse than that of this lady whom God returned to life. All I know is that when God steps into your situation, every forces working against your life shall scatter. This is not just some freaks in nature, but events God grants for his glory and our honour as faithful witnesses. If this is still deep, read slowly…

cf. Mark 5:21-43
A synagogue official came up [to Jesus], Jairus by name…fell at his feet and pleaded with him earnestly, saying, ‘My little daughter is desperately sick. Do come and lay your hands on her to make her better and save her life.’ Jesus went with him and a large crowd followed him; they were pressing all round him. Now there was a woman who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years; after long and painful treatment under various doctors, she spent all she had without being any the better for it, in fact, she was getting worse. She had heard about Jesus, and she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his cloak. ‘If I can touch even his clothes,’ she had told herself ‘I shall be well again.’ And the source of the bleeding dried up instantly, and she felt in herself that she was cured of her complaint. Immediately aware that power had gone out from him, Jesus turned round in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched my clothes?’…While he was still speaking some people arrived from the house of the synagogue official to say, ‘Your daughter is dead: why put the Master to any further trouble?’ But Jesus had overheard this remark of theirs and he said to the official, ‘Do not be afraid; only have faith’…
So they came to the official’s house and Jesus noticed all the commotion, with people weeping and wailing unrestrainedly. He went in and said to them, ‘Why all this commotion and crying? The child is not dead, but asleep.’ But they laughed at him. So he turned them all out and, taking with him the child’s father and mother and his own companions, he went into the place where the child lay. And taking the child by the hand he said to her, ‘Talitha, kum!’ which means, ‘Little girl, I tell you to get up.’ The little girl got up at once and began to walk about, for she was twelve years old. At this they were overcome with astonishment, and he ordered them strictly not to let anyone know about it, and told them to give her something to eat.
POINTS FOR REFLECTION
1. Child of God, in the gospel you just read Jesus restores the lives of two Unnamed ladies. They had no names for identification but their problems had names: the first had Haemorrhage while the second was declared dead! Another striking similarity in their predicaments is age and time of their restoration: the 12-year old daughter of Jairus was born in the same year the woman began her incessant bleeding. Yet in the same year both were healed. One stopped bleeding which restored her life while the other had her life restored.
2. Hear me, have problems defined your life to the extent your identity is overcome by the problem, such that people now identify you with your disabilities, like: ‘that woman with cancer’, ‘that man with a bad leg’, ‘that blind boy’, or ‘that deaf girl’? Or have you suffered for years that you think there’s no hope for a healing remedy? Don’t give up! Have faith because it is only in ‘faith clinic’ that laws of nature are overridden, satanic projections and machinations are destroyed, and human declarations over your health conditions are nullified. As Jesus says to Jairus, so I say to you: Do not be afraid, only have faith. The enemies of faith are fears or doubts, don’t give them a chance!

TASK: Pray Psalm 30 now. With a deep and profound faith declare:
Though sorrows may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Though my predicaments (mention the problem) may tarry for days, months or years, but I declare, may the Joy of your healing hands overcome and heal me now, in Jesus name. AMEN.
