COME TO ME, I WILL GIVE YOU REST|Thursday|Easter Week 4

Are you one of those who today have misunderstood this profound invitation from Jesus and then complain: “I follow Jesus with undivided heart but my problems are still there”. And for this reason you want to ignore this message? I know this is not the first time you heard this message preached but I bet you, there’s something NEW God wants to communicate to you NOW! Just read slowly…
Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you REST. Shoulder my YOKE and LEARN FROM ME, for I AM GENTLE and HUMBLE in HEART, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’
POINTS FOR REFLECTION
1. The REST Jesus promises to give you does NOT mean IMMOBILITY- a state of inaction, but a state full of actions and activities! That is why after that he said Shoulder my YOKE, LEARN FROM ME…
2. To understand this REST remember the book of Genesis where it is written: “God RESTED on the 7th day” we are immediately told “God blessed that day of REST and made it HOLY! Rest (in Hebrew- Sabat) means to Cease (from activity), to Contemplate, or to Celebrate
3. So when Jesus promises you REST he calls you to do something: CEASE from the activities of nothingness (STOP entertaining anxieties, worries, hurts, pains, sinfulness, lust, etc that comes), CONTEMPLATE on God and his mercies/wonders in your life; and CELEBRATE your God (which is best done when you love others)!
TASK: Stop for a while NOW and ask yourself how many times you have truly CEASED from worthless activities in order to CONTEMPLATE on God and CELEBRATE Him apart from Sunday worship? Do this always with Psalm 139 and see if you will be happy or not.
I pray for you: May JESUS console and bless you daily as you contemplate HIM. Amen.
