CLP Zimbabwe Visits Flame Lily Retirement Home

“Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.” — Psalm 71:9

This Easter, Come Let’s Pray Catholic Family Ministry, Zimbabwe (CLP Zimbabwe), dedicated a special day to those who have paved the way for us. On a beautiful afternoon filled with reflection and gratitude, our members visited the residents of the Flame Lily Retirement Home in Harare.

In a world that often moves too fast, we chose to slow down and sit at the feet of our elders, bringing the joy of the Risen Christ to their doorsteps.

A Day of Companionship and Prayer

Our visit to Flame Lily was centered on the gift of presence. The elderly often face the challenge of loneliness, and our goal was to ensure they felt the warmth of a family. The day’s activities included:

  • Shared Prayer: We gathered with the residents for a moving session of prayer and worship. It was a beautiful exchange of faith, where the wisdom of the seniors met the energy of our ministry members.

  • Heart-to-Heart Fellowship: Beyond the formal activities, we spent time simply listening. Every wrinkle tells a story, and it was an honor to hear the life experiences and advice shared by the residents.

Provisions of Care: Groceries and Toiletries

Recognizing the practical needs of the home, CLP Zimbabwe was honored to donate a variety of essential groceries and toiletries. These items were carefully selected to provide comfort and support for the daily lives of the elderly. Witnessing their gratitude was a humbling reminder that small acts of kindness carry immense weight when done with great love.

Celebrating the Hands That Served

This successful outreach was made possible by a dedicated leadership team in Harare and the support of our global family.

To Our Local Coordinators: A massive thank you to our Zimbabwe leadership for their meticulous planning and compassionate hearts:

  • Tanatswa Tinago – Coordinator, CLP Zimbabwe.

  • Lisabel Matonisa – Assistant Coordinator

To Our Spiritual Leader: We extend our deepest respect and gratitude to Rev. Fr. Simon Onyekachi Madu, OSJ, the Founder and Spiritual Director of Come Let’s Pray Catholic Family Ministry. Thank you, Father, for your constant encouragement and for reminding us that the elderly are the living treasures of our Church.

To Our Donors and Members: To every donor who contributed to the groceries and supplies, and to every member who showed up to hold a hand in prayer—you are the heartbeat of this ministry. Your generosity turned a simple visit into a day of celebration.

A Legacy of Compassion

As we departed Flame Lily, we left behind more than just supplies; we left behind a promise that CLP Zimbabwe will continue to stand by our elderly. We are reminded that Easter is a season of renewal, and there is no better way to celebrate new life than by honoring those who have lived it so faithfully.
