“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” — Matthew 10:8
This Easter, Come Let’s Pray Catholic Family Ministry, Cameroon (CLP Cameroon), witnessed a modern-day resurrection of hope within the halls of the Regional Hospital Bamenda. While the world celebrated the victory of life over death, our ministry sought to bring that victory to those trapped in a different kind of tomb: the despair of medical debt and confinement.
A Mercy That Unlocks Doors
The reality of healthcare can often be harsh; for many “desperate cases” at Bamenda Regional Hospital, recovery from illness is met with the crushing weight of unpaid bills. Some patients, though medically fit to return home, find themselves “retained”—unable to leave the hospital premises simply because they lack the funds to settle their accounts.
On this grace-filled Easter outreach, CLP Cameroon stepped into the gap. Our activities were focused and transformative:
-
Settling the Debt: We identified the most desperate cases—mothers, the elderly, and the vulnerable who had no means of payment. By the grace of God and the generosity of our community, we paid their medical bills in full.
-
The Joy of Homegoing: There is no greater Easter joy than watching a patient realize they are finally free to return to their families. We didn’t just pay bills; we restored dignity and reunited homes.
-
Spiritual Consolation: Alongside the financial relief, we offered prayers of thanksgiving and strength, reminding every patient that they are never abandoned by the Divine Physician.
A Tribute to the Vessels of Mercy
An outreach of this magnitude is a testament to the power of a united family in Christ. We wish to express our profound gratitude to the leaders and supporters who made this possible.
To Our Coordinators: We salute the tireless work and compassion of our Cameroon leadership:
-
Ida Titalanga – Coordinator, CLP Cameroon.
-
Amalia Nyanga – Assistant Coordinator. Your dedication to scouting these cases and managing the logistics of this mercy mission has changed lives forever.
To Our Spiritual Director: Our hearts are full of gratitude for Rev. Fr. Simon Onyekachi Madu, OSJ, the Founder and Spiritual Director of Come Let’s Pray Catholic Family Ministry. Thank you, Father, for teaching us that true prayer must manifest as a tangible force of love in the world. Your vision continues to set captives free across continents.
To Our Donors and Members: To those who gave from their pockets so that others could breathe the air of freedom—thank you. Your donations were the keys that unlocked the hospital doors for these families. You have truly lived the Easter message.
A Legacy of Mercy
As the formerly retained patients walked out of Bamenda Regional Hospital, they left behind the shadow of debt and walked into the light of a new beginning. CLP Cameroon remains committed to this path of radical charity, proving that through Christ, all things and all people can be made new.
